The purpose of this page is to inform you, our Church body, of the updates for our Lead Pastor Search Process. We plan to continue to publish updates as they happen on this web page to keep the congregation informed of our progress.

We ask you, the body of Christ at Graceland Baptist Church; to keep the Elders and the members of the Pastor Search Team (PST) in your prayers as we endeavor to seek God’s plan for our next Lead Pastor.

SEARCH PROCESS UPDATES

November 11, 2018

On behalf of the Elders, the Search Team and the membership of Graceland Baptist Church, we are pleased to announce the calling of Larry Riley as our Lead Pastor at Graceland. The church membership voted (97%) on Sunday, November 11 and Pastor Larry was affirmed in accordance with the constitution of Graceland Baptist Church as our Lead Pastor.

Pastor Larry will begin his responsibilities as Lead Pastor immediately. We Praise God for His goodness and blessings on our church and look forward to the exciting days ahead. Welcome Larry and Elizabeth Riley!

November 7, 2018

Church members will vote whether to affirm Lead Pastor Candidate, Pastor Larry Riley, Sunday November 11, 2018, during both services at the New Albany campus, as well as during the service at our Palmyra campus.

November 1, 2018

Church members are invited to attend a question and answer session with Lead Pastor Candidate, Pastor Larry Riley and wife Elizabeth on Saturday, November 3rd at 10AM or Sunday, November 4th at 3PM. The meeting will be held in the Corner Room.

October 28, 2018

The Pastor Search Team and Elders presented Pastor Larry Riley to the members of Graceland Baptist Church. According to our church constitution, all church members will have the opportunity to affirm the LEAD PASTOR recommendation during a vote on Sunday, November 11th, in all services at both campuses.

October 24, 2018

The Elders are excited to announce they have unanimously voted to present a Lead Pastor Candidate for affirmation to the Graceland Baptist Church Members. Details will be shared during all services this Sunday, October 28th, at both campus locations.

October 19, 2018

The Search Team meeting with the prospective Lead Pastor went well. The Search Team made a unanimous recommendation to move forward to the elders. Please continue to pray!

October 10, 2018

The Search Team has been meeting and is processing questions as they prepare to meet with a prospective Lead Pastor next week.

Establish Search Team

Pray for God’s clear direction and guidance as we enter into this search for our new Pastor.

In accordance with our church constitution “Calling of a Senior Pastor” – The Elders shall issue a general call of fasting and prayer to the church body. The search team shall be established by the Elders. The Search Team shall seek candidates and present recommendations to the Elders. A unanimous agreement of the Elders is required to present the selected candidate to the church family. Upon review and testing, the selected candidate shall be presented to the church body for affirmation.

Again, we are asking every member of GBC to join your Elders and PST in prayer and fasting until we’ve successfully completed our search for a new pastor.

PASTOR CRITERIA/QUALIFICATIONS

The list below is not an all-inclusive list;

  • According to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9 A lifestyle that demonstrates obedience to Christ’s teachings; consistent spiritual and biblically moral character and the leadership qualifications of an overseer.
  • Candidates will need a biblical foundation and ability to rightly divide the word of truth.
  • Prior experience in a lead ministry role with proven communication skills.
  • Proven skills that foster trust, fairness and teamwork among staff, members, and the church family, and a common focus on excellence in all areas.
  • Have a history of faithful ministry experience and compelling desire to reach the unchurched in our Neighborhoods, Nations and the Next Generations.
