Graceland Golf Classic

It’s time to tee it up for the 2019 Graceland Golf Classic and Mayors’ Cup Challenge!

Join us, this year, as we continue our Annual Graceland Golf Classic. The proceeds are being used toward the completion and ongoing maintenance and development of Graceland Community Recreation’s Sportsplex. It is our desire that the Sportsplex, which contains four baseball fields, a soccer complex and a concession area, will provide our community with quality programs for children and testify to God’s faithfulness.

Through the years, the Golf Classic has raised over $900,000 to support local schools, community organizations and, of course, Graceland Community Recreation Programs, which provide team sports to more than 1,000 children a year.

Once again, we welcome the Mayors of New Albany and Jeffersonville to the Annual Mayor’s Cup Challenge. The two Mayors’ teams will compete against each other for the coveted Mayors’ Cup trophy and, of course, bragging rights for a year!

Our sincerest thanks to our sponsors and participants who make this all possible. See you on the green!

History of The Graceland Golf Classic

For over 54 years Graceland Baptist Church has been known for its commitment to reaching out to the people of Southern Indiana. Through the years, the church has grown into a major support to community non-profit and humanitarian organizations.

By 1991, seeking ways to help fund the financial needs of the athletic departments on campus at Graceland, a group of individuals from the church and college staff came up with the plan to start the Golf Classic. Thus, a committee was formed, and the first annual “Graceland Golf Classic” was held.

In 1994, as an effort to increase the involvement of community leaders and businesses, the Mayors’ Cup Challenge was added to the event. This would include the New Albany and Jeffersonville Mayors, who enroll a team each year to compete against each other for the coveted Mayor’s Cup trophy, and, of course, bragging rights for a year!

Over the years, more than $900,000 has been raised through the Annual Golf Classic. The funds have been used towards children’s education including: new classroom computers, distance learning lab, new student lockers, a new press box, baseball fields and dugouts, team uniforms, and more. Also, many local community non-profit organizations have benefited from the funds raised by the Golf Classic through grants.

All this would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. It is to you, our sponsors and our participants, that we owe a debt of thanks!
